JVC has just unleashed the SP-A440 Surround Sound Simulators upon an unsuspecting Japan.  It seems that these boxy little bastards are causing mass confusion among the general population.  There are only two speakers, yet they sound nothing exactly like more expensive, space-consuming surround sound systems.  Each of the two speakers house a pair of 1.3 inch drivers on each of the front faces (for those of you who are not mathematically inclined, that makes a total of four drivers on two speakers).  Because of the design, and the way that sound is projected in different directions, these lame speakers bad boys are supposed to make you think you’re listening to surround sound.  They cost roughly $45, and there is no word yet on an American release (and I’m not holding my breath).
