New, over at at the little shop of wonders known as thinkgeek, one can find the e-ink based watch known cleverly as the “E-Ink Display Watch“.

The E Ink technology used in this watch depicts digital time with the look of electronic paper and can be read accurately and instantly from any angle – vastly improving on dull liquid crystal displays (LCDs) that typify previous digital watches. The customizable dial allows you to select different styles, from the precise detail of full numerals and indices to the simplicity of no markings all.

This awesome piece of nerdy tech features four different face styles, two color options (which seem to be either beige or black), and the ability to change between digital time display and the date. This seems like another nifty application of the burgeoning e-ink technology. The unfortunate thing about this exciting new technology is that Joe Everyday (like myself) cannot come close to affording such lavish adornments. I mean, this little watch would set me back $250, which is just slightly less than what I spend on booze and cigarettes every week. How am I supposed to afford my “medicine” if I’m also expected to buy all things e-ink? So my solution to this problem was to manually draw a watch on my wrist in non-”e” ink (AKA “ink”) and then rub it off every minute and re-draw it. Turns out that this resulted in losing most of the skin on my wrist, and ending up with what has been described as “the world’s most disgusting-looking fake drawn-on watch”.

This DIY project, dubbed “The Stunning Camera”, will show you how to give an electric shock to unsuspecting users. Although this is clever, I have a more… persuasive way of showing people that you are a total douche. It’s called the sucker punch. It’s simple - all you have to do is walk up to someone and punch them in the face. And the best part? It does not require the purchase of anything. Although it could be an issue if you have no hands. I would also suggest running after said sucker punch, for the person you punch may be way way bigger than you.

C-Jump is sweet because it fuses my two favorite pastimes: board games, and throwing stuff across the room. If you’ve ever tried to program something, and have it fail over and over and over again, no matter how many times you try to fix it, then you’d know why this game, based on C, C++, and JAVA programming, would throw you into an angry rage. The kind of angry rage that causes you to throw lamps at the nearest wall. My girlfriend has this problem, as well, except she doesn’t know programming languages, and her lamp-throwing seems to be directed at me, instead of the wall. I think she found out I slept with her sister - just a guess, though.

For those of you that did not think that enormous sunglasses were embarrassing enough, designer Matthias Ries has developed massive, plastic ears to dress your most decrepit old person in. These “batphones” are not meant to be a replacement for relatively low profile hearing aids, but are instead intended for those with only slight hearing problems. This, of course, makes perfect sense because a person with a minor hearing problem would have absolutely no problem donning ear attachments that make your head look like a miniature urinal. This product seems rather silly and I have no idea why Batman would endorse such a thing. Between this and his movie, he could easily over expose himself and saturate the market. That isn’t a problem for me though, because no amount of Batman exposure would ever saturate me…wait, what?

If you’re like me, then you used to take chewed gum, stretch it out and make shapes with it. My favorite shape was the sphere. It was easy to make - all I had to do was roll the gum around in my hands, turning the pink tooth-molded gum into a brown ball. Then I would pop it back in my mouth (and it was more salty than sweet, at this point), chew, mold, and repeat. Maurizio Savini has found a slightly more sanitary way to make gum art. He took pre-chewed chewing gum and made it into beautiful, and wonderful smelling, art. It you ak me, this is crazy. If you can make art like this with gum, I wonder what other crazy things you can do with it; who knows, you may, someday, be able to chew it to draw flavor.

What is the periodic abbreviation for Cobalt? What is its atomic mass? Are you proud of yourself for answering that?

So, you could answer without cheating; do you want a trophy? How about a ring? Well you can buy one, nerd. Itsnoname, a spousal design team, has made these rings from gold, platinum, and silver. As you may have guessed, or observed from the above pictures (because you’re observant), each ring is labeled with their respective periodic table element. I got something like this one time for winning a chemistry trivia challenge. And by that, of course, I mean I mugged the nerd that actually won and stole it from him. His huge brain had nothing on huge crowbar.

If you’re like me, then you have loads of stuffed animals in your home. I’m not talking plush and cotton. I’m talking taxidermy. Yes, my home will creep you out more than Michael Jackson at the playground, or Michael Vick at the dog park, or me watching you sleep. It’s creepy. Artist, Lisa Black, has taken taxidermy beyond creepy and into the realm of… um.. something undefined. I don’t know whether to be creeped out or think this work is awesome. Either way, it is definitely like nothing I’ve ever seen before. All I know now is that my stuffed animals, stuffed Borg (yes, I hunt Borg), and mechanical storage garage now have something in common. More pictures after the jump, and more things to add to my collection.
