If you dislike having to look at your ceiling fan in all of it’s bladed glory, and happen to have your fans within arms reach, then I think that this new concept from beaconlighting (and deeporange design) is for you.
FANAWAY is an advanced ceiling fan with unique aesthetics and energy efficient design. Switched off the intrusive fan blades automatically retract and conceal, and visually the unit transforms into a slim, modern light pendant. Turning the fan on creates a centrifugal force which deploys the blades to circulate air within a room.
Personally, I don’t have much of a use for a fan that hides itself when it’s not in use. I like my guests to marvel at my hand-painted fan. By “hand painted” I mean I got drunk and tried to draw boobs on it while it was in motion. Also, by “marvel” I mean look at it and wonder why there’s sharpie all over my fan. What I could use, however, is a retractable girlfriend. When I want to use her, I can see her, and once I’m done she just disappears (or makes me dinner). I’ll have to e-mail deeporange design about that one… More pics after the jump.
