Sharpsafe Is Needle Disposal System
February 19, 2008

The Sharpsafe, designed by Alicia Mintzes, is a public needle disposal system for intravenous drug users. It is also designed to be strong and nonthreatening:
Sharpsafe is designed with a familiar street furniture language that enables it to fit into public spaces as a distinctive yet non-threatening entity.
The material strength and form design increases safety and durability, reducing break-ins and misuse.
To facilitate servicing and reduce overfilling, a solar powered ultrasonic distance sensor system measures and records bin levels, alerting service staff when bin is nearing capacity.

This could be a good idea… or a bad one. You decide. Leave a comment. Discuss.
