Vimicro To Release New Application Processor For Mobile Devices

Vimicro, best known for their web cams and PC gadgets, announced a new application processor for mobiles devices. It is based on Windows Mobile and promises a lower-cost alternative for smart phones, which are only only growing in trend.
EIJING, Feb. 11 /Xinhua-PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Vimicro Corporation (NASDAQ: VIMC), a leading fabless semiconductor company that designs advanced mixed-signal multimedia products and solutions, today announced the launch of its most recent high-performance application processor, Vinno-III (VC0818) and an open mobile platform, Vinno-III-Win, based on Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system when attending Mobile World Congress 2008 in Barcelona, Spain. The new application processor and open mobile platform was launched to provide a lower cost option for smart phones and increase its popularity.
