Buffalo Makes External HD-DVD/BluRay Drive, is not Animal

In a move that is sure to mean nothing in a few months, manufacturer Buffalo is releasing (in Europe only) a HD-DVD/BluRay combo drive. It has the ability to burn and read BluRay discs, and the ability to read (and not burn) the soon-to-be defunct HD-DVD format. With pricing and availability yet to be revealed, and no North American release date yet announced, this seems like a pretty useless piece of tech. Honestly, they might as well just throw a BetaMax/BluRay combo out there, or perhaps VHS/BluRay. They’re about as relevant now as HD-DVD is going to be in a year or two. Why don’t they just throw a Divx reader on there while they’re at it (not the video format, but the now-defunct DVD competetor, for those of you under the age of 20). If they wanted to interest me more, they would make a BluRay/Beer combo drive. It would be a BluRay player that came with beer… so I could get drunk. That would be awesome, also it would save me money on beer. Hell, they could make a BetaMax/Beer combo drive and I’d buy it. I suppose that’s the only downfall of being an alcoholic…. that and the horrible pains in my liver.
